Circles™ of East Texas is the newest initiative of Partners in Prevention, and the first in the state of Texas. Circles™ is designed to build relationships across class and race lines. Circles™ will support families in poverty to moving into self-suffciency. These families are called Circle Leaders. Circle Leaders participate in a 15-week goal setting session, “Getting Ahead in a Just Getting by World”, during which time they construct their plan on what resources they need to move out of poverty. After the 15 sessions, they have the option to enter into a circle of support where they would be linked with 2 – 4 Allies (middle or upper class community members) who would support the Circle Leader, and their plan, to make their way into a self-sufficient lifestyle.
